BWY day Lincolnshire: observing the feeling of gravity acting on the body in movement – how does this inform our understanding of ‘grounding’?

28/02/2016 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

There are certain movements/yoga postures that clarify how the pull of gravity affects our effort in movement.  Some of these are where we resist gravity. These require more muscular effort and ambition than those where we are ‘going with’ the pull of gravity. Clarifying the difference helps us to refine effort so that we move with more comfort and ease.

A felt sense of this rather elusive concept ‘gravity’ also informs our understanding of that other principle – often equally elusive – ‘grounding’.

The theme of this workshop will allow us to explore a wide variety of yoga postures including upright, inverted, twisting, rolling, and sitting postures. The day will also include periods of quiet sitting, breathing, and relaxation, so that you have time to notice what you feel, and to absorb and digest your discoveries.
