Mind Body Yoga Retreat – Integration and Transformation
01/04/2016 @ 2:00 pm - 04/04/2016 @ 2:00 pm
A retreat with Cara Bowen and Lisa McRory.
‘The mind is like the wind and the body like the sand; if you want to know how the wind is blowing, you can look at the sand.
Our body moves as our mind moves. The qualities of any movement are a manifestation of how mind is expressing through the body at that moment’ (Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen)
During this yoga retreat we will explore the interconnection of mind and body through a practice that focuses on eliminating unnecessary tension as a means to experiencing tranquility and inner peace.
Inspired by the beautiful surroundings and heart-centred philosophy of Lendrick Lodge, Cara and Lisa will create a welcoming and nurturing space in which you can restore comfort and ease to your body and mind. Their approach to yoga encourages harmony between the natural movements of the spine and the innate responses of the body to the breath. Through their informed and sensitive teaching you will be encouraged to cultivate a patient, non-judgemental yoga practice. The posture work will emphasise releasing tension to enhance our connection with the ground, creating a dialogue between our bodies and the earth. Periods of quiet sitting and breathing will develop our ability to listen to the body and observe the mind, revealing a deeper and more accepting sense of ourselves. Ultimately these strands come together to help us experience stability, inner calm and focus.
Cara and Lisa regularly teach yoga together. They are inspired by the work of Vanda Scaravelli, Mary Stewart and Peter Blackaby, as well as their shared passion for the Feldenkrais Method and mindfulness meditation. Along with Chloe Fremantle and Anne-Marie Zulkahari they are directors of the London Yoga Teacher Training Group (LYTTG). The LYTTG runs British Wheel of Yoga accredited teacher training courses, as well as other courses in London, Brighton and elsewhere in the UK.
